Parish Staff

The Rev. Canon David W. Lovelace

The Rev. Canon David Lovelace was called to serve as Rector of St. John after serving parishes in North Carolina and Georgia. Canon Lovelace holds a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and a Master of Sacred Theology in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Columbia Theological Seminary. He has extensive experience in partnering ministries with other community churches and agencies. He has held leadership positions both in the church and in the community. Canon Lovelace is married to Dr. Elaine Lovelace, Clinical Psychologist and has three grown daughters.

The Rev. Joseph Y. Seville

The Rev. Joseph Y. Seville – our pastoral associate is a retired priest of the Diocese who came to St. John’s after retiring from the same position that Canon Lloyd once held (Canon to the Ordinary). In Joe’s case, his primary responsibility at the Diocesan office was managing diocesan finance and administrative affairs. While a native of Pittsburgh, PA, Joe is an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He developed his allegiance to Green Bay once he and his family began vacationing in Door County, Wisconsin, which lies just above Green Bay. Joe served in the parish ministry for over twenty-two years serving congregations not in only in Central Pennsylvania but also in Maryland and Kansas. He has served as ecumenical officer for our Diocese and also as Province III ecumenical officers’ coordinator. In addition, occasionally he does projects for the Church Pension Fund. Joe enjoys swimming at the Y and reading a variety of types of books. He and his wife Linda have a daughter Anne, who lives in Alexandria, Virginia. They have a cat, Sasha, who reigns supreme!

The Rev. Janet E. Brown

The Reverend Janet E. Brown has served as deacon at St. John’s since 2010. She is a graduate of the Diocesan School of Christian Studies (now Stevenson School for Ministry), Dickinson College, and holds a Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in practice as a psychotherapist in Lancaster. Her interests include bicycle riding, road trips, writing, studying, and reading almost anything in print. Her family includes husband Roy, daughter Barbara, and 2 Border Terriers, Stella and Dali, the pack leaders.

Rodney Barnett

Organist & Choir Director

Rodney joined our staff in 2008. In addition to his responsibilities as organist, he also directs the choir, hand bells, and children’s musical activities. The music program here also includes an occasional Evensong as well as the newly established St. John’s Concert Series. He also is the director of the York Ecumenical Choral Society, and also serves on the Diocesan Commission of Music and Liturgy for the Episcopal Diocese of Central Pennsylvania.

Jen Morris

Jennifer Morris has been serving as St. John’s Family Ministry Director since October 2013 coordinating children, youth and family activities and faith formation.  She is a life-long York native who graduated from William Penn Sr. High School and attended York College majoring in Elementary Education.  She enjoys working in the church and serves as the Administrative Assistant of Luther Memorial Church and is an active member of Zion Lutheran Church.  Jennifer and her husband, Sean, have two children.


Kris Ort

Kris has been employed at St. John since October 2012.  Prior to that, she was the church secretary at Mt. Zion UCC for nine years.  Kris is an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church where she completed several terms as secretary of the Staff-Pastor Parish Relations Committee and currently serves as lay reader and sings with their Celebration Choir.  Her hobbies include singing, reading, traveling and spending time with her family.  She and her husband, Kevin, have two daughters.



Alison Vedder

Alison is a York County native and has been a member of St. John Episcopal Church since June 1987.  She became an employee as Ministry Coordinator in October 2012.  Some of her volunteer efforts at St. John past and present include Sunday school teacher, vacation bible school, offering teller, Our Daily Bread casserole maker, member of the handbell choir, usher, lector, chalicer, etc.  Alison enjoys being a church worker as she is also the church secretary at Heidelberg UCC.  She and her husband Chris have 3 children and 3 grandchildren.
